An aerial perspective of an industrial warehouse with its entire roof surface covered in solar PV panels arranged in a continuous gridded array, with the surrounding landscape and tree line visible beyond the building footprint. This is what a Commercial Plus deployment looks like at the upper end of its scale, where a single Precifarm installation can generate up to one megawatt of on-site solar power for an industrial tenant, a special economic zone operator, a hospitality or fuel-retail site, or a logistics fleet depot.

Best for

EV-ready mini-grids, industrial sites, fleets, campuses.

Commercial Plus is the contractor engagement for sites that need on-site solar generation, lithium storage, and EV charging delivered as a single integrated installation under one engineering contract. The five recurring deployment archetypes are peri-urban institutional anchor sites (schools, clinics, and agricultural cooperatives) with on-site charging needs; electric-motorbike fleet and battery-swap operators such as Roam, Spiro, Ampersand, and ARC Ride; hospitality and fuel-retail sites adding charging amenities; industrial and special economic zone tenants electrifying logistics fleets and forklifts; and multi-tenant residential property managers serving resident vehicles from a shared array and storage spine.

  • Powers

Large facilities, workshops, agro-processing units, cold storage clusters, ICT systems, and EV charging infrastructure (multi-point charging possible).

  • Designed for

Distributed energy systems, continuous industrial loads, and fleet charging operations at scale.

Daily load
Highly variable by deployment archetype: institutional anchor sites typically run classroom, clinic, and cooperative loads plus 2-4 AC charging points; fleet hubs run continuous DC fast-charge or battery-swap rotations; industrial sites smooth peak draw against grid limits while charging delivery vehicles overnight.
Hardware
Tier-1 mono PV (from approximately 90 panels at the entry tier up to roughly 1,800 panels at the 1 MWp ceiling); hybrid three-phase inverter sized per deployment; lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery storage in modular cabinets; AC charging stations from 7 kW to 22 kW; DC fast chargers from 30 kW to 180 kW; grid-interactive controls where utility interconnection and net-metering are available.
Inverter
Sized per deployment, hybrid configuration
Panels
From 90 × 550 W up to ~1,800 × 550 W

Deployment archetypes

Five deployment templates Precifarm sizes and builds.

Each archetype below is a starting configuration. The final solar, storage, and charging specification is set during the engineering site assessment, against measured site demand, the customer's charging profile, and the available grid interconnection.

01

Peri-urban institutional anchor sites

Schools, clinics, agricultural cooperatives. On-site solar and storage powering core operations, with charging available for staff, visitors, and institutional fleet.

Solar
50 to 200 kWp solar
Storage
100 to 400 kWh storage
Charging
2 to 4 AC charging points

02

Boda-boda and motorbike-fleet charging hubs

Dedicated charging infrastructure for electric motorbike fleets and battery-swap operators such as Roam, Spiro, Ampersand, and ARC Ride. DC fast-charge or battery-swap bays sized to fleet rotation. Often run as a paid-charging revenue line.

Solar
100 to 300 kWp solar
Storage
200 to 600 kWh storage
Charging
20 to 50 DC fast-charge or battery-swap bays

03

Hospitality and fuel-station retrofits

Lodges, hotels, and fuel retailers adding solar generation and charging amenities for guests and forecourt visitors. Charging becomes a draw, not just an expense.

Solar
100 to 500 kWp solar
Storage
200 kWh to 1 MWh storage
Charging
4 to 8 AC charge points plus 1 to 2 DC fast chargers

04

Industrial and SEZ tenant sites

Manufacturing, logistics, and special economic zone tenants charging delivery trucks, staff EVs, and forklifts on site. Logistics-fleet operators such as BasiGo electric-bus depots and SEZ tenants fit this profile. Larger storage smooths peak draw against grid limits.

Solar
300 kWp to 1 MWp solar
Storage
600 kWh to 2 MWh storage
Charging
Fleet charging for delivery trucks, staff EVs, forklifts

05

Multi-tenant residential and gated estates

Distributed AC charging at resident parking bays, plus a shared array and storage spine covering common-area loads. Sized to the estate, not the unit.

Solar
100 to 400 kWp solar
Storage
200 to 800 kWh storage
Charging
Distributed AC charging at 10 to 40 parking bays

Pricing

On quotation basis

Commercial Plus pricing is bespoke and is finalised in writing after the engineering site assessment. The principal variables are measured site load, charging infrastructure scope, storage sizing, the deployment archetype, and any grid-interconnection or net-metering requirements. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, M-Pesa enterprise, or via the partner-bank facility used for financing.

Financing

Partner-bank financing, or a five-year operating lease.

Commercial Plus deployments are typically financed through the partner-bank facilities we work with on solar-PV asset finance (KCB Clean Energy, Stanbic Solar PV, Co-op Bank). For institutional anchor sites (schools, clinics, and agricultural cooperatives), the deployment can also be structured as a five-year operating lease, where Precifarm owns and operates the system for an agreed monthly fee and the customer pays for delivered energy on a tariff basis.

Service tier · Priority, on-site

Five-year EPC and O&M contract standard. Extended to ten years on industrial-scale deployments.

The engineering team that designs your Commercial Plus system is the same team that installs it and services it across the next five years. Your regional depot retains the install record, so the engineer who shows up has worked on your system before.

Frequently asked

Commercial Plus questions, answered.

What is the difference between Commercial and Commercial Plus?
Commercial powers an operation up to roughly 13 kWp. Commercial Plus is mini-grid scale (50 kWp to 1 MWp) and adds EV charging infrastructure as a first-class part of the design.
Which deployment archetypes are typical?
Five so far: peri-urban institutional anchor sites (schools and clinics), boda-boda and motorbike-fleet charging hubs, hospitality and fuel-station retrofits, industrial and SEZ tenant sites, and multi-tenant residential or gated estates.
How long does a Commercial Plus deployment take?
Site-dependent. A 50 kWp anchor site can be commissioned in two to four weeks. A 1 MWp industrial site is sequenced over several months with milestone commissioning.
Can we operate the EV chargers as a revenue line?
Yes. Boda-boda hubs and hospitality retrofits commonly run paid charging as a revenue line. We size the array, storage, and charger mix against the customer-flow profile during the site assessment.
What does the ten-year service option cover?
On industrial-scale deployments, the standard five-year EPC and O&M commitment extends to ten years. This covers preventive maintenance, warranty management, firmware updates, and on-site engineer response across the full decade.
How does the operating-lease structure work?
For institutional anchor sites (schools, clinics, ag cooperatives), Precifarm can own and operate the system for an agreed monthly fee, with the customer paying for the energy delivered. Useful where capital is constrained but the load profile is well understood.
